This year, I would like to take more time for Private Lessons in the summer months. So often, I watch students and think how helpful it would be to have them for an hour on their own, so I could pour all my attention on them and help them through their trouble spots. Every student would benefit from private lessons.
To make things more organized, here is how it will work: Students get four 60-minute private lessons in the month of July. I will open it up to limited time slots first, and add more if I need to. Right now, I will keep them to Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The time slots would be 1:00-2:00 p.m.; 2:00-3:00 p.m.; 3:00-4:00 p.m.; and 6:30-7:30 p.m., but I can add more if these time slots fill up. I would prefer to fill up later time slots first, and add other times or days if necessary. Your four classes will be the same day and time each week for four weeks.
If you wish to have more than one class per week, that also works, but as I have limited time slots, there is no discount, and a second day per week would add another full fee to your tuition. Register early- a $30 deposit towards your tuition is due at the time of registration to hold your spot. Please contact us to schedule your time slots!
Ages: 7 and up Tuition: $120.00 (Four once-weekly classes)
Here’s how it will work: we will hold auditions on Thursday, April 15, at 7:00 p.m. At this time, a $30.00 deposit toward your tuition is due. All students will be given a part- some are lead roles, some are supporting roles, some are minor speaking roles, and some are chorus roles only. If a student does not want to sing by themselves, they don’t have to! If a student does not attend auditions, he or she can still participate, but will automatically be cast in the chorus (which, believe me, will keep them very busy!)
If a student is interested in a lead role, I would highly suggest bringing a blank cd to me soon, so that I can burn a copy of the music. When they audition for a solo part, they need to sing, and it is helpful if they sing something from the show. Practice makes perfect! I can also offer copies of the lyrics to the songs.
For those who were given a lead or solo role, we will hold some rehearsals in May (Schedule to be determined, but will likely be some evenings after ballet classes). This will allow the leads to learn their parts before we begin the camp itself, saving some time and keeping the others from having to wait around while they learn their part in class.
The camp will officially begin in June, after school lets out, and the schedule will be as follows:
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
In July, as we prepare for the show, we will go back to the evenings so that our adult cast may join us.
Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-6:30 p.m.
The performances will be July 23 at 7:00 p.m. and July 24 at 2:00 p.m. In the week preceding the performance, please expect to rehearse every day.
Here are the quick facts:
Ages in the class: 7 and up
Experience required: None!
Cost: $120 ($30 due at auditions, $45 due June 1st, $45 due July 1st.) *Note: As our spring fundraiser will greatly benefit this production, participants who sell a lot of the product may be offered a discounted tuition…let me know if this interests you!
Lead / Solo roles: Meg, Jo, Beth, Young Amy, Adult Amy, Marmee, Aunt March. These people may need to sing some of the chorus songs as well.
Speaking only roles (1-3 lines; Mrs. Kirke is a bigger non-singing part- these will also be cast in the chorus)- Mrs. Kirke, Mr. Harper, Mrs. Harper, Sally Harper, Miss Hawthorne, Passerby, New Yorker, Policeman, Beggar, Paper Boy, Apple Seller, Freddy Vaughn, Mr. Badge-Wheedle, Spaniard, Russian.
Chorus: There are five ensemble songs / scenes throughout the show. Chorus members would get to play Men and women at a ball, wedding guests, people on the streets of New York, and in Paris.
Last year’s day camps did not gain a lot of interest, so at this time, I am not offering any day camps this summer. IF there is a lot of interest, however, I could run some day camps the week of August 16-20. If you are interested in being put on a waiting list for this, let me know, and I will contact you if we gain enough students to do a class. The tuition would be as follows:
Ages 4-6: $60, 1 hour per day for 5 days.
Ages 7-10: $90, 2 hours per day for 5 days
Ages 11+: $130, 3 hours per day for 5 days
